Were you aware that Virginia has a Primary Election Day on June 17th, for contested statewide seats and for certain local elections? If so, great! If not, we're glad you're here, because we have some information to share with you.
It is important to understand that Primary Elections only take place when there are multiple candidates from the same party, running for the same seat - who qualify for the Primary Election ballot. Therefore, the amount of primaries vary from seat to seat. For example, all 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates are up for election for two-year terms. There will be several Primary Elections for Democratic and Republican House of Delegates seats, as well as Primaries for Local races throughout Virginia. Please visit this link on the Virginia Department of Elections' website to see if there is a Primary in your area and to view Primary Candidate & Referendum Lists for the June 17, 2025 Primary Elections.
